Entertainment for the Corporate Set
Houston Ballet: In 1955, the founding members of the Houston Ballet Foundation created a resident ballet company in Houston as well as the Houston Ballet Academy, a school to train its dancers and provide meaningful programs for nonprofessionals. Today it supplies more than 40 percent of the company’s dancers to join some of the world’s best dancers and choreographers who come here to thrive. This internationally acclaimed ballet company is now America’s fourth largest and works to inspire a lasting love and appreciation for dance through artistic excellence, exhilarating performances, innovative choreography and superb educational programs. The classically trained company has a diverse repertory that ranges from the classics to contemporary.

Houston Grand Opera: Since its inception in 1955, the Houston Grand Opera (HGO) has grown from a small regional opera into an internationally renowned operatic organization. HGO commissions and produces new works and has brought to the public around 50 world premieres and six American premieres since 1973. HGO also contributes to the cultural enrichment of Houston and the nation through an innovative program of performances, community events and education projects that reaches out to the public. HGO has toured extensively, performing in Europe and Asia, and it is the only opera company to have won a Tony awards, two Grammy awards and two Emmy awards. HGO’s performances are broadcast nationally and internationally over the WFMT Radio Network, New York City’s WQXR, the European Broadcasting Union and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.
