The Beasts Go On - Zoo Friends of Houston
For Immediate Release:
Houston, Texas - May 8, 2009 – On May 1, 2009 the Zoo Friends of Houston Inc., held their 2009 Zoo Friends Family Party.  This psychedelic themed event, dubbed “The Beat Goes On,” was held from 6:30 pm to 10:00 pm at the Houston Zoo.  Guests of the event were asked to adorn themselves in their most “Hippie Chic” attire.

The Zoo Friends of Houston enticed guests to take part in several “funkadelic” games while the swinging sixties environment came to life around them.  The YoYo man and Hula Hoop Hipster’s traveled amidst sixties spin art and super sand art.  Meanwhile, the DJ jived to the sounds of the Woodstock generation in the teen room.

The groovy event featured unique zoo experiences including a Sea Lion show and a chance for guests to interact with the animals.  Guests of the event were treated to a Dyn-O-Mite dinner buffet provided by Swift Company.  A silent auction was also held to benefit the Zoo.

At the end of the night, Houston Zoo elephants, Tess and Tucker, joined Cynthe Hughes, the immediate past president of the Zoo Friends, in presenting a check for the proceeds from the 2008 Zoo Ball.
