House of Blues first opened their doors in 1992 and forever changed the landscape of the music industry. Over the year’s the world-famous clubs have solidified their status as a premier music venue with performances by James Brown, Eric Clapton, The Who, Pearl Jam, John Lee Hooker, Etta James, George Thorogood and so many other incredible artists. What the company has also realized is that it also has positioned itself as a truly unique and creative venue to host private and special events around the Unites States.
In October 2008, House of Blues Houston opened its doors for music and corporate meeting executives, ad agencies, fundraisers, social planners and event planners should all take notice.
One of the main reasons for its appeal is its eclectic design. Located in Downtown Houston, the 43,000 square foot building is part of the Houston Pavilion project and houses a multi-level music hall with a seated balcony, state of the art sound, professional lighting and private box seats. In addition the venue also has a separate restaurant and bar, Foundation Room® (a private membership club), as well as a dedicated space for special events called The Cambridge Room.
The Houston location is the 12th club opened by House of Blues and for private events can accommodate up to 800 in the music hall, 400 in the restaurant, 175 in Foundation Room and up to 200 in The Cambridge Room. Although the venue operates on three different levels, all of the separate areas can host groups individually or interact for special events up to 1500.
With an incredible sound system and great sight lines, it's no surprise that the House of Blues music halls have featured such legendary talent over the past decade. What some may not know is the music hall also plays host to countless large-scale private events. It can be used as a concert facility for premiere parties and corporate events, as a backdrop for product launches, seminars and sit-down dinners or as a combination of both for fundraising and social engagements. The hall includes full banquet amenities, multiple full service bars, large stage and pro-sound system and its balcony level features theater-style reserved seating for approximately 400, including 2 private luxury boxes.
At most venues the music hall is also home to the world-famous Gospel Brunch® on Sundays. Every week guests are treated to an uplifting live gospel performance and an all-you-can-eat Southern-style buffet. It's a trademark event at House of Blues and is often used as the setting for fundraising events. With its turnkey set-up, fundraisers are able to focus on promoting the event and selling tickets instead of worrying about the myriad production details. This can be a very attractive option to event planners with limited resources. Keep an eye out for Gospel Brunch to debut in 2009!
The first floor level is where the venue's restaurant showcases its renowned southern-inspired cuisine and unforgettable friendly hospitality. Signature dishes like Creole jambalaya, rosemary cornbread and white chocolate banana bread pudding are all showcased on the restaurant's menu. Depending on a meeting planners needs, the restaurant can host private events that accommodate anywhere from 25-400 guests. Daytime lunch meetings as well as pre-show meet and greets are not uncommon and lucky restaurant guests are sometimes treated to a glimpse of their favorite performers at the latter.
The third level of the venue is home to the exclusive members-only Foundation Room®. Currently six other House of Blues clubs feature a Foundation Room and all future club openings have plans to include one. If you are a member of any Foundation Room, you have privileges at all locations, which is a great benefit for those who travel from city to city. The club’s setting is both eclectic and elegant. It features ornate rooms that showcase a beautiful lounge and bar, Persian carpets, antique temple screens, fabric walls, mahogany furniture and gothic ceiling panels as well as numerous statues and woodcarvings. If you are looking to impress a client, this is the place to do it.
House of Blues has worked with numerous companies to help them produce the best event possible. Microsoft, American Express, NBC, Rock The Vote and even the Democratic National Convention have all tapped into the resources available at House of Blues.
