Howl at the Moon: Where Guests are Part of the Show

The burgeoning Midtown entertainment scene recently gained a witty and modern locale. Howl at the Moon, located at 612 Hadley Street, takes the term "piano bar" to new heights, with piano players offering up clever discourse while encouraging the audience to "sing-along" to songs almost everyone knows by heart. This quirky bar provides an atmosphere that invites guests to leave themselves behind and embrace their inner songster. It is a one-of-a-kind venue that promises fun to all that are involved.

Howl at the Moon is an extremely successful piano concept that has grown to thirteen locations across the country since its inauguration in 1990. Reminiscent of a classic New Orleans hotspot, Howl at the Moon attracts a diverse and energy-filled audience every day of the week. The center of this live music venue is the baby grand pianos that are manhandled by talented players who are responsible for creating excitement. These piano players are hand picked from the finest talent and trained to provide an exciting vibe night-after-night. “These immensely gifted piano players are required to know at least 500 tunes and if you can manage to request a song the band doesn’t know, well, we have a keyboard and the Internet in the back,” notes Chris Kelly, the General Manager.

Dubbed “the most fun you can have with your clothes on,” Howl at the Moon attracts an audience that ranges from mature professionals to hip college students to the occasional tourist. The crazy banter between the musicians and staff are part of the show and guests are sure to get to know their neighbors through the course of the evening.

Dual bars and polished concrete floors set the tone for this newly-opened hotspot. Since opening its’ doors in August of 2007, Howl at the Moon has become both a nightly mainstay and one of the hippest places in town to hold a meeting or event. They offer dozens of packages that can be customized to fit the needs of any event, from corporate teambuilding functions to holiday parties to birthday bashes. “We’ve got great options for groups of all sizes,” adds Amanda Oliphant, the Sales and Events Coordinator.

Planning an event at Howl at the Moon is simple. The venue offers four easy steps to create an unforgettable celebration. First, meeting planners must determine where their group falls into the party space options. Party spaces range from 10 to 400 and determine what level of reserved seating is needed for the event. Next, potential clients select one of the Howl at the Moon drink packages. After confirming that the venue has space available, patrons seal the deal with a contract. These steps are easily mitigated by Amanda, who is often refereed to by her colleagues as, “The Best Party Planner in the World.”

Customizable options make this a perfect choice for meetings and events that want the “wow factor” in a casual, no drama format. Optional amenities include a customized company song, stage call downs and complimentary microphone use. Howl at the Moon will even bring the party to you! “Have you found the perfect venue for your meeting or event? Let us know where and when and we will bring the piano and the fun,” notes Amanda.

The venues’ laid back atmosphere and attention to details have catapulted it to the top of many agendas. In the past nine months, Howl at the Moon has received rave reviews from the Houston Press, Envy Magazine, 0002 Magazine and the Midtown Paper.

Howl at the Moon is raising the bar when comes to meetings and events. With lively entertainment, a sleek venue and a stylish location, Howl at the Moon is quickly becoming one of the most sought after event spaces in Houston.
