Explore Houston's Vibrant Entertainment
There is no denying that a major draw to the Houston region is the electric energy stirred up by the region’s dynamic leisure, nightlife and attractions. From world-class spas to designer golf courses to unbeatable shopping, Houston is truly a gem in the meetings and events industry.

Planning group entertainment is a great way to keep meeting attendees together. This not only promotes teambuilding and networking, but also helps meeting planners develop a more detailed schedule.

Many entertainment options and attractions in the city offer pre-package ticket discounts, while others offer same-day rewards. It is best to check with all vendors, including ticket outlets, before the scheduled event to discuss special group rates and any detailed instructions.

Spotlight On: Discovery Green

Downtown Houston has become one of the most sought-after parts of the region. New developments are revolutionizing nightlife and making the business sector of the city a fun and inviting place to kick back after a long day at the office.

Houston’s version of Central Park, Discovery Green, has dramatically impacted the look and feel of downtown Houston. Across from the Convention Center and near Minute Maid Park and the Toyota Center, this 12-acre park provides art, leisure, dining and green space.

This Wi-Fi-connected park features an interactive fountain, a one-acre pond, gardens and recreational areas for picnics and other leisure events, restaurants, stages, a playground area and a jogging trail. In addition to on-street parking that surrounds the park, an underground parking garage enhances access to the Convention Center and the park.

Discovery Green holds numerous events for visitors and Houstonians alike. An entertainment series features special performances by musical and comedic guests and an art series offers a full slate of visual, literary and performing arts events.

Outdoor ice skating makes a welcome return with The Ice at Discovery Green, Holiday Skating on the Lake, presented by the Houston Chronicle. This exciting new program opens Thanksgiving Day, November 27, 2008 and runs through Martin Luther King Day, January 19, 2009.

This remarkable green space has Houston businesses singing its praises. “The addition of Discovery Green will greatly impact the entire area for years to come because it is generating new traffic into downtown,” notes Chris Miller, Hotel Icon.

Extensive public input has contributed to the overall success of Houston’s newest green space and promoted travel in and around downtown. Discovery Green was designed to be a truly exciting place for people of all ages and backgrounds to enjoy and early reviews indicate that the park has accomplished its’ mission!
